Chicken Baby Burgers – For The Family Too!

baby burgers nutritious

Mommies and Daddies share a common interest when it comes to our children. We want to feed our little tots food just like us, but healthier! Sometimes I take a step back and realize, I should be eating more of the foods I’m feeding my baby girl. OH, how I’d love to have my own personal chef. That’s likely not in the cards, so instead I decided to make more of her healthy food for us. Granted I know a lot of mothers do give portions of their own food to their toddlers and babies, which I think is fantastic. Move aside “Kids Menu” these babies and children eat nutritious choices, and enjoy it!

Not only is a whole-foods, traditional diet exactly the kind of food I want my girl to be eating, I can make a huge batch (enough to store for a couple baby lunches/dinners)  and my husband and I can also enjoy the same meal. It seems an easy answer for most, but sometimes I suppose; it takes a change of thought that you don’t have to be making two different dinners a night. We as parents can pack our babies meals and bellies full of nutrition, triple the recipes to do the same for ourselves.

This fantastic burger is definitely a baby crowd pleaser. Soft, warm, full of veggies and oh-so delicious! I’ve added some mild organic spices to the recipe to add more nutrition, vitamins and minerals. This is a great time to introduce your baby’s pallet to an array of different tastes; which includes spices and herbs. You can experiment with the earthy, savory flavors of the Middle East to the fruity, rich flavors of the Caribbean, go crazy! Your babe wont only experience all sorts of flavors, but with this comes an assortment of nutrition, and all the super-foods of the world!

Ingredients
  1. Yields - 8-15 depending on the sizing you do, which will change the time as well. If you are making them just for baby or the whole family, its a fantastic nutritious burger night! No bun necessary!
  2. 1lb organic/free range minces chicken
  3. 4 tbsp pepper of choice orange/red/yellow
  4. 8 cherry tomatoes
  5. 2 -3 stalks of asparagus
  6. ½ green onion, the mild green section
  7. 1 small handful of washed sprouts (sunflower, pea etc.)
  8. ¼ cup grated raw cheese
  9. 3 tsp whole organic mustard
  10. 1 tsp himalayan/kelp or sea salt
  11. ¾ tsp cumin
  12. 1 tsp thyme
  13. Pinch turmeric
Instructions
  1. Place the minced chicken in a medium sized bowl
  2. Wash all veggies and place tomatoes, asparagus, piece of the pepper into a pot of boiling water and blanch for 3 minutes (this will make the veggies more tender for the little mouths of babies under 1yr)
  3. You don’t have to do this with older babies or babies of a year with a full set of teeth.
  4. Drain the veggies
  5. With a sharp knife, roughly chop tomatoes till minced and into almost a sauce
  6. Slice pepper length wise and then into small cubes the opposite way
  7. Thinly slice asparagus, green onion and tomatoes
  8. Grate raw cheese into a separate bowl
  9. Toss in the veggies with the chicken
  10. Measure out ¼ cup of cheese and also toss in with the chicken
  11. Thoroughly rinse the small handful of sprouts and roughly chop till almost minced (you can also blanch the sprouts for 2minutes before you toss them in with the chicken)
  12. To the bowl of chicken and veggies add the tomatoes, mustard salt and spices.
  13. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or your hands (add that extra love ❤)
  14. Take out a pan and dollop it with some organic pastured raw butter or virgin coconut oil on medium heat
  15. Take tbsp. sized balls out with your hands or with a spoon and make into patties (varying in sizes for whom you will be serving.)
  16. Lay them on the pan to sizzle, (med heat) flip to do the other side, scoop them off – cool – serve!
Notes
  1. You can add any other veggies and try out different spices to make it your own
  2. Like any leaf lettuce/sprout make sure you thoroughly wash them before adding them to any meal.
  3. You can even try to do these on the BBQ – You can add in an egg to help bind it together if it’s for the family and your baby is over 1 year of age.
  4. Add in two egg yolks if your baby is eating egg yolks after 6months.
  5. (To read notes about the importance of egg yolks and your baby’s developing brain, please see my Coconut Banana Thumb Print Cookie recipe)
