Sunshine Goji and Turmeric Milk

This power milk with turmeric and goji berries is a true tonic in that it can aid in boosting the immune system and to help heal yourself when ill. 

Turmeric is sought after and used as a beauty tonic, aiding in the healing of joints, skin and used for its high antioxidant levels to help fight off free-radical damage. It has been claimed as a very potent cancer fighter/preventer in areas like the colon, skin, prostate, breast and lung. Turmeric is known for its sparing use due to its high potency which is said to also aid in helping to clear, and improve liver function. Turmeric has an extremely long list of beneficial attributes for the human body, so much so that turmeric is considered to be quite the power ‘root’ (food) and is quickly gaining a household name for itself. We are hearing more and more about this root which is grown mainly in India for so many of its healing qualities.

Pairing the turmeric up with another super food, the goji berry, makes this drink incredibly powerful. Goji berries are considered a super food and claimed to hold a very high potency of vitamin C and also claimed to contain more carotenoids than any other food, making this drink a great immunity builder. This berry is a unique fruit for it also contains all essential amino acids and carries with it the highest concentration of protein than any other fruit. There is no doubt this small berry claims the name, power house. Native to the Himalayan  mountains of Tibet and Mongolia the Goji berry is now grown in many other countries as well.

 I decided to make a beautiful healing milk that can be consumed any time, but especially when you need a boost of healing (I want to say everything, because this milk seems to have it all!) vitamins and minerals. Enjoy sipping on this warm milk during the evening throughout the cool months of the year, it will warm and energize you right well.

Don’t be afraid to let your little one (12+ months) have a few sips of this powerful healing milk, it will add some much needed strength and healing ‘sunshine’ throughout their little systems.

 Soaking goji berries in milk (nut milk, raw milk or coconut milk) while warming up on the stove.

Ingredients
  1. 2 cups milk of choice (raw milk, nut milk or coconut milk)
  2. 1/2 cup filtered water
  3. 3 tbsp. goji berries
  4. 1/8 tsp. turmeric
  5. 2 tbsp. raw honey
  6. (optional half of a vanilla bean)
Instructions
  1. In a small sauce pan add your milk and set to low on the stove.
  2. Drop in your 3 tbsp. of goji berries to soften in the warm milk. (if using vanilla bean you can add the scraped out vanilla beans and pod in as well)
  3. In another small sauce pan add your water and turmeric powder, simmer until it forms a nice paste (7 minutes or so, you can add extra water if you need)
  4. While turmeric paste is forming add in the raw honey to the warmed milk and stir till combined
  5. Place the milk mixture with goji berries into a blender, (take out vanilla pod) and using a spatula scrape out the turmeric paste and also add to the blender
  6. Blend on high for 10 seconds and either strain into a glass (to grab all the little fibers of the goji berries) or consume them and pour straight into a glass.
  7. Sip, and enjoy what this milk has to offer.
