Stewed Plums for Baby

25685586_mStewed Plums,

When my little girl was starting her first foods I wanted to make sure I tired to incorporate an array of different textures and flavours. She seemed to enjoy absolutely everything I put on her plate, including these stewed plums. I had a little eating monster on my hands and she dived into solid food like a champion. This stewed plums recipe was fantastic to add to the rotation. Plums are such a great tarty, sour – yet sweet flavour which helps get baby use to those flavours, and build a fondness for them. This stewed plums recipe becomes an easy favourite for babies.

Happy first baby eats!

Ingredients
  1. 2 red plums
  2. pinch Himalayan/kelp or unrefined sea salt
Instructions
  1. Peel 2 red plums, cut into chunks and add to a small sauce pan on medium heat.
  2. I also add in the peel from both plums.
  3. Add a tiny pinch of the salt, and simmer on medium for 10 minutes stirring every 2 minutes or so.
  4. Put a lid on and turn the stove down to medium/low and let simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. The skin of the plum will get very soft and breakdown with the plum flesh, (easier than if it was on the plum) making it easy for baby to consume.
  6. Check the plums at 30 minutes and stir or whisk the soft flesh till smooth, if still a little chunky you can leave it on the stove for a few more minutes or use with some whole soft pieces of plum.
Notes
  1. This will make enough for 3 servings for baby. Keep in mind half of this is a whole plum so you may not want to start off with too much, and if baby gets loose stool you can also thank these sweet/tart little fruits and may want to use a little less, or more.
