Tropical Power Smoothie


This tropical power smoothie is hydrating and packed with electrolytes, enzymes, minerals and protein. Using homemade nut milk allows you to keep your smoothie a whole foods smoothie, but it also adds protein. If need be you can add 1-2 tbsp. of almond butter to kick up the protein. If you would like to omit the raw honey to keep the sugar level down it will taste just as delicious.

 The reason I add raw honey to smoothies, teas, treats and baked goods:

Raw honey means it has not been pasteurized, heated or processed in anyway.  Raw honey is an extremely alkalizing food that contains antioxidants, minerals and vitamins. Raw honey also holds special anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties, it will boost your immune system, aid in digestive health and help minimize or eliminate allergies. Raw honey has even been used to cure ulcers, lower blood pressure and more. This sacred whole food is outstanding and provides quite a list of healing qualities.

 However, using honey in baked goods can affect the honey if the temperature of the oven is too high. The oven can over heat raw honey and kill off some of the wonderful, healing properties.  Although, it is always better than using white sugar.

  1. 1 cup frozen organic mango
  2. 1 organic banana
  3. 1 cup diced organic pineapple
  4. 1 cup organic orange cubed
  5. 1 cup pure coconut water
  6. ½ cup shredded coconut
  7. 1 tbsp. chia seeds
  8. 1 tbsp. raw honey
  9. 2 cups nut milk - homemade recipe
  10. Pinch of sea/kelp/Himalayan salt
  1. In a blender add in the nut milk and coconut water
  2. Place in all the prepared fruit including the shredded coconut and blend on high for 20 seconds
  3. Add in the honey and sea salt and pulse to combine
  4. You can then add in the chia and stir, or pulse in the blender just until combined into the smoothie.
